Definitions of key terms

The table below lists terms that appear throughout the Welwetcom platform pages and support documentation. Each definition is written to reflect the specific meaning of the term within this system.

Term As used in the Welwetcom system
Record A discrete unit of information that has been received by the system and assigned a position within the classification structure. A record may consist of text, structured fields, or a combination of both.
Classification The process of assigning a record to one or more defined categories based on consistent criteria. Classification determines where a record appears within the system's structure and how it can be retrieved.
Category A defined area of the system's structure into which records are grouped. Categories are established according to the nature of the information the system is intended to organise. They remain consistent once established but may be extended if new types of information are introduced.
Input layer The first stage of the system's processing sequence, at which incoming information is received and initially catalogued. The input layer does not evaluate the accuracy of information; it prepares records for the organisation stage.
Organisation layer The second stage of the system's processing sequence. At this stage, records are classified, cross-referenced, and arranged within the category structure so that they are retrievable and navigable.
Review layer The final stage of the system's processing sequence, at which structured information is presented to the user through the interface. The review layer does not modify records; it surfaces them in the form determined by the organisation layer.
Observation A structured summary or pattern derived from the organised records within a category. Observations reflect what the data shows without adding interpretation beyond what the structure itself communicates.
Interface The digital environment through which users interact with the Welwetcom system. The interface presents classified records and observations in a navigable, readable format. The interface described on this website is the user-facing layer; the underlying system operates separately.
Cross-reference A link between records in different categories that share a meaningful relationship. Cross-references are applied during the organisation stage and enable users to navigate between related entries without returning to a central search.
Enquiry A message submitted by a user to the Welwetcom support team, either requesting access to the system or asking a question about it. An enquiry is handled individually and does not trigger an automated response.
Access request A specific type of enquiry in which a user indicates their intention to use the Welwetcom system and describes what they wish to review. An access request is subject to review by the support team and does not imply automatic or immediate access.
Support team The group of individuals at Welwetcom Ltd responsible for handling enquiries, reviewing access requests, and responding to questions about the system. Members of the support team are familiar with how the system is organised and can provide accurate, contextual responses.
Guided access The defined process through which a user progresses from reading the platform information to receiving access instructions. Each stage of the process is described on the Functions page.

A note on terminology consistency

The terms defined in this glossary are used consistently across the Welwetcom website. When you encounter a term you are unsure about, return to this page to check its meaning within this specific context.

Some of these terms have broader meanings in general usage or in other technology environments. The definitions here do not replace those broader meanings; they clarify how the terms are applied within the Welwetcom system specifically.

If you encounter a term on this website that is not listed here and whose meaning is unclear, you are welcome to include a question about it in your enquiry to the support team.
